It was the winter of 1981.  She was a checker at Vons, and he was the new meat cutter.
“It was love at first sight for me,” states Anita.
Little did Anita know, her future husband had set eyes on her long before they exchanged phone numbers.
“I noticed her at one of our company softball games a year before we actually met,” states Joe, “and then I saw her at the grocery store and thought ‘Here’s my chance!’”
Anita was smitten with Joe.  “I had all the employees checking him out, trying to get information on him.  Then, he came through my line after he got off work and I was as nervous as you could possibly be.”
“She was so nervous,” states Joe, “that when she said hello, it came out a squeaky ‘Hiiiiiiiii’.”
Joe asked Anita for her phone number, and the rest, as they say….is history.
Just a year later, the two were engaged and became husband and wife on May 28, 1983 in a Catholic church in Reseda.
Joe and Anita moved to the Santa Clarita Valley in the 1980’s.  Together they have five children, three girls Danielle, Jocelyn and Britni and two boys, Conrad and Austin.  “Danielle is married with three boys,” states Anita, “and we absolutely love being grandparents!”
Throughout the years, Joe and Anita have had several successful businesses.  ARC Specialties in Valencia (a supermarket equipment supplier and manufacturer), JMG Motorsports in Newhall, Thomasville furniture in Santa Clarita (partners with the McKeons) and JMG Specialties Inc. located in Valencia (MFG of supermarket and material handling equipment for grocery chains across the united States).  “We tried working together,” states Joe, “but realized we’d rather be partners in life and family, and free from all the obstacles that could hinder a relationship.”
“It’s important to always remember to tell each other that you love them everyday, and to think of each other often, especially when you are apart,” states Anita.  “Send each other cards, texts, e-mails, and go on dates just like you did when you first started dating.”
“For me,” states Joe, “it’s all about love, honesty and trust, and I know I can say that Anita is my best friend as well.  Taking time to be together, listening to each other, date nights, and saying ‘I love you’ with meaning.”
“My husband is so handsome, but what I love most is his heart.  He has the most giving and loving heart, and when he smiles, the whole world smiles with him and I thank God every day for giving me ‘My Gager’.”
