They are the men and women in uniform who selflessly dedicate their lives and believe in our nation’s freedom.  They are the courageous, who fought for liberty and freedom for all.  They are the brave, who served their country so that people like you and I could live in peace on our own soil.  They are the valiant, who put their lives in jeopardy to protect and defend our nation.  They are our heroes…Our veterans.
In the United States, we celebrate Veterans Day on November 11, the anniversary date of the signing of the armistice that ended World War I hostilities between Allied Nations and Germany in 1918.  November 11 became a legal federal holiday in the United States in 1938 and has become a day in which we honor all the people who have served in the armed forces.
In celebration of Veterans Day weekend, The USO Greater LA Area and Habitat For Humanity San Fernando/Santa Clarita Valleys are breaking ground on a new Habitat Enriched Neighborhood™ and memorial for veterans on Centre Pointe Parkway in Santa Clarita. The Habitat Enriched Neighborhood™ provides no-cost social and educational services, including financial education, health information, dental hygiene, veteran assistance, homeowner education classes and children’s programs such as after-school tutoring.
The groundbreaking ceremony kicks off a day of fun for the entire family, on Saturday, November 9.
All proceeds from this event go to support USO programs for troops and their families, and ongoing support for the Habitat Enriched Neighborhood™ model for veterans.
To our veterans past, present and future, we thank you for your service.  We thank you for your courage, your dedication and your commitment to protect our nation so that we may enjoy the freedoms we have today.
