A few years ago we featured Santa Clarita resident Jahruba “Ruba” Wilson, actor, host, dancer, singer and red carpet correspondent. Just last month Ruba made his debut on Oprah Winfrey Network’s Flex & Shanice, a reality series following the lives of actor and comedian Flex Alexander and his wife, 90’s pop sensation Shanice along with their extended family.
Ruba, who is Shanice’s younger cousin, joins the crew along with his cousins Imani and Elijah, Flex’s cousin Ed, Shanice’s mother and stepfather, Crystal and Mike and Uncle Spirit. “I absolutely love working with my family,” states Ruba. “I don’t have many close friends, and I would have to say that my family members are my best friends. They are the most quintessential example of family.”
The one-hour docu-series follows the couple and their extended family as Flex and Shanice try and rebuild their career after teetering on the edge of financial ruin for the last five years. After moving in their family to help, viewers will have the opportunity to follow the family, all under one roof trying to hold it together as they aim to capture their one big break to help turn their luck around. “You can definitely expect some great reality television,” states Ruben. “Afterall, it’s nine family members living under one roof…Need I say more?”
