The American poet, Wallace Stevens, once wrote, “The summer night is like a perfection of thought,” and his words couldn’t be truer.  Summertime in the Santa Clarita Valley is nothing short of pleasant.  The warm days and cool nights are simply delightful in this place we call home.

We are so thrilled that the Dancing With Our Stars event turned out to be a huge success – raising nearly $80,000 for our local non-profit organizations!  We are even more pleased that our very own, Moe along with professional dancer Sheyla Cintron, took home the top prize, raising the most money for the Santa Clarita Senior Center.  We are so proud of you, Moe!  Your hard work paid off!

Continuing with our theme of entertainment, go behind the scenes with Danielle Jacobs, who just received an award for Best of Festival-Short Drama at the International Family Film Festival for the short film she wrote, directed, shot and edited, Boy | Man.
Filmmaker Jason Tippet also shares his success with us as he recently won the Jury Award at the South by Southwest Film Festival in Austin for his film, Thompson.
And our youngest star this issue is the adorable little 6-year-old, Merit Leighton, who recently walked the red carpet and was honored at the Child Actor Recognition Event Awards.  Learn about her goals and dreams in our feature on the budding star.
Helping others is a common thread in our community, making it a wonderful place to live and raise a family.  Ivan Price, executive director/CEO of the fund-raising arm of the Boys and Girls Club of Santa Clarita Foundation, talks about the Club and its 40-year presence in our Valley.   Support the SCV Boys and Girls Club for their 38th Annual Auction at Mann Biomedical Park on Saturday, June 13.  Proceeds from the event will help fund after-school programs for local children.
With approximately 36 issued U.S. Patents, 60 pending patents, and a corresponding number of foreign patents, it’s no surprise that Bob Stevenson has benefitted many lives in one way or another.  Nearly all the cardiac pacemakers and implantable defibrillators in the world use at least one or more of Bob Stevenson’s patented circuits.  Take a moment to read about Bob and his successful career.
