His music has captured the heart and soul of fans worldwide as the lead singer of The Temptations and The Drifters. And now the multi-talented singer/songwriter/producer and actor will grace the stage and enchant our hearts in Santa Clarita at the Michael Hoefflin Foundation’s Evening Under the Stars Gala.
Former lead singer with the legendary Temptations and The Drifters, Louis Price has toured the world, belting out tunes that have entertained the hearts of many. With three albums recorded on the Atlantic Label from 1977-1980, Louis has toured with famous artists including Bill Cosby, Ben Vereen, Donna Summer, Pia Zadora, Dionne Warwick, Jack Albertson, Gladys Knight and The Pips, Smokey Robinson, Aretha Franklin and many many more.
In the early 1980’s Louis joined The Drifters and spent the first half of the 80’s with the group. In 1991, Louis signed with Motown and released his self-titled debut album. His much sought after voice was recorded on the albums of Diana Ross, Michael Buble, Neil Young, Michael Jackson, Michael Smith and Taylor Hicks.
Not only has Louis made his mark on stage, but he has also lent his voice to the big screen, recording songs for Hairspray, Happy Feet, Norbit, Phone Booth, The Ladykillers, The Lion King and White Men Can’t Jump, to name a few. His voice can be heard on commercials like Fruit of the Loom, Coors, Red Lobster and many more.
Aside from recording, Louis donates much of his time to various youth charities. Additionally, he has performed with the children of The HELP Group for many years. The HELP Group is a leading national organization dedicated to the education of children with autism. The talented artist also finds himself drawn to the streets of downtown Los Angeles, where he entertains the homeless and destitute on major holidays through the Fred Jordon Mission outreach services.
Louis will take the stage with his soulful tunes at the Evening Under the Stars Gala that will take place on Saturday, September 24 at the beautiful Mann Biomedical Park in Valencia. “Evening Under the Stars has always been a wonderful event, and it’s the goal of the entire team involved that guests will come away thinking this was one of the best evenings ever of entertainment and philanthropy,” states Chair of the Gala, Julie Benson. “We’re going to have a great meal, wonderful entertainment by Motown legend Louis Price, and of course a rousing auction — an evening of fun but also one that emotionally connects our guests with the Michael Hoefflin Foundation and its work.”
This event is a major fundraiser for the Michael Hoefflin Foundation, whose mission is to provide support to children and their families facing the emotional and financial difficulties of pediatric cancer. “I was inspired by the work the organization had long been doing to support children and their families challenged with the unimaginable — pediatric cancer,” states Julie. “It’s been rewarding to see the organization make some important strides to re-invigorate our community to help these families in their time of financial and emotional crisis; and to personally meet many of the families who are served by the Foundation. They are truly brave and inspiring.”
