It was an evening of enchantment as the Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital Guild presented the 26th Annual Silver Rose Debutante Ball on Saturday, March 5 at the beautiful Grand Ballroom of the Hyatt Valencia. Escorted by their fathers and a brother, the eight debutantes made a grand entrance under raised swords held by ROTC midshipmen from USC and UCLA. Dressed in a sea of white satin, the debutantes danced the Grand Waltz with their fathers (and a brother) in front of their families, friends and supporters. Following the dance, the debutantes were escorted to their tables by the midshipmen and guests enjoyed a delicious baby green salad, filet mignon with Port Wine Demi and butterfish with rock shrimp lobster cream sauce, and a delightfully rich dessert. Following dinner, the debutantes and midshipmen along with guests danced to the music of All Night Express and Shall We Dance. The evening was a perfect ending for the 2010-2011 social season for the Silver Rose Debutantes. To qualify for the program, Silver Rose Debutantes must have a 2.5 or higher grade point average and commit to 50 hours of volunteer service at hospital functions. The program raises funds for Henry Mayo Hospital’s laboratory services.
