Cancer Survivor Tea
12:30 p.m. – 2 p.m.
Come celebrate survivorship, enjoy an elegant tea with delicious tea party fare, and also discover how the American Cancer Society helps create more birthdays through cancer research, education, free programs and services, and advocacy. Held for seniors who have survived cancer or are currently living with the disease, the event will also serve up some meaningful food for thought from psychotherapist, humorist, and author, Judith Harris. Herself a two-time cancer survivor, Harris is well known for her wise, inspiring, and often chuckle-inducing commentaries about our life journeys and challenges, the importance of gratitude, and learning how to “suffer in style.” Persons planning to attend the tea are asked to please RSVP by calling Diana Sevanian, R.N., SCV Senior Center Health & Wellness Program Coordinator at 661-255-1588 ext. 128. The event will be held in rooms A-1 and A-2.

Repertory East Playhouse Presents Frankie and Johnny
in the Claire de Lune.
8 p.m. Friday & Saturday
2 p.m. Sunday
The setting is a walk-up apartment on Manhattan’s West Side where, Frankie and Johnny are discovered in bed. It is their first encounter, after having met several weeks ago on the job, and Frankie is hopeful that Johnny will now put on his clothes and depart, so she can return to her usual routine of watching television and eating ice cream. But Johnny, a compulsive talker (and romantic), has other ideas. He is convinced that he loves Frankie, a notion that she, at first, considers to be ridiculous. She has had more disappointments than delights in life, and he is the veteran of one broken marriage already. And neither of them is in the bloom of youth. Yet out of their sometimes touching, sometimes hilarious interplay the promise of a relationship beyond a “one-night stand” does begin to emerge. General Admission: $20 Students and $17 for Seniors. The Repertory East Playhouse is located at 24266 Main Street in Newhall. Box Office: 661-288-0000 www.repeastplayhouse.org
