Set in Alabama during the Great Depression, To Kill a Mockingbird follows the journey of Jem and Scout Finch, whose father has been appointed to defend Tom Robinson, a black man framed for a crime he didn’t commit. This timeless classic compels us to take an honest look at our nation’s past and our moral responsibility to each other. To Kill A Mockingbird runs May 10 through June 15. Art Slam! A Monthly Art Happening in Newhall
Art Slam is a monthly art happening, which will feature a variety of art, entertainment, and activities centered around a theme. Several themes have been discussed by some artists in the community including: light, sound, water, and ice cream! Many of the Art Slam events will see artists’ responding to a theme by developing interactive opportunities for the public, installations of art work, gallery shows featuring several artists, etc. For the evening, the block/area will be transformed into an open air gallery. Gentlemen for a Cause
Soroptimist International of Santa Clarita Valley presents the second annual “Gentlemen for a Cause”. Come bid on professional services offered by our community’s most talented gentlemen. This year the pageant will be honoring 33 years of Miss SCV Queens at the pageant! Approximately 80 young women candidates from the Santa Clarita Valley will compete for the opportunity to be the 34th Miss Santa Clarita Valley and earn the $5,000 scholarship! The Santa Clarita Street Fair is one of Santa Clarita’s most vibrant and active community events. Unique and one-of-a-kind items are a specialty at the Santa Clarita Street Fair. During your visit, have lunch at one of the many gourmet food trucks featured at the Street Fair. Adding to the excitement is the Certified Farmer’s Market on Sunday, located directly across from The Santa Clarita Street Fair, filling the air with the deliciously decadent smell of a smorgasbord of cultural foods.
