In celebration of the holiday season, and to create a joyful holiday setting in Old Town Newhall, the City of Santa Clarita presents a Holiday Window Painting Contest.  The City of Santa Clarita encourages children (6 years old or more) to participate in Paint the Town.  Old Town Newhall businesses have proudly donated their front windows to create a holiday tradition that captures the imagination of young artists.

The Repertory East Playhouse will end its 2009 Season with the highly anticipated production of the classic comedy M*A*S*H, by Tim Kelly and Sponsored by ServPro of Santa Clarita and presented by The City of Santa Clarita.  Show times are Friday and Saturdays at 8 p.m. and Sundays at 2 p.m.  Tickets are $18, $16 for students and seniors.  Advanced reservations are highly recommended.

Literacy and Arts Festival

Celebrate the holidays with the second annual Literacy and Arts Festival, presented by the Santa Clarita Valley Education Foundation and the City of Santa Clarita.  At Hart Park, the festivities will begin with 25 tons of snow for kids to play in, and then head over to Hart Hall for pictures with Santa Claus, storytelling, and crafts.  The Literacy and Arts Festival is a day of entertainment, education, and activities to encourage, promote and expose the importance of literacy and the performing arts to people of all ages.

Student Symphonic Orchestras Winter Spectacular

The Canyons Prelude Strings, COC Student Orchestra and Symphony of the Canyons combine to present a concert of orchestral winter classics including Tchaikovsky’s “The Nutcracker Suite.” These performance groups are the three-tiered instrumental education programs offered by the college. The Students Symphonic Orchestras are directed by Julissa Bozman and Dr. Paul Sherman.
