Steven and Michelle Gilbertson have lived in their beautiful Peachland Estate home, built 1981, and have taken on remodeling and redecorating throughout the years, paying keen attention to design, comfort and magnificence. Nestled in the heart of Newhall, the estate is one of over 50 custom built homes, boasting over 3,100 square feet on a 10,000 square foot lot.
With a love for European travel, the Gilbertsons have turned to European antique design for inspiration along with the help of their interior designer, Pam Galloway. “We have furniture that has been in my family for generations as well as new furniture” says Michelle. “We wanted to update the home, but still preserve its antique charm, and with the help of contractors and Pam’s expertise, we were able to accomplish just that.”
A brick pathway leads to the entrance of the home, and through its front doors awaits an elegant spiral staircase, adding to the home’s architectural beauty, making a bold design statement while embracing the style and tone of the home. The living room is as captivating as it is charming. Consulted on drapes, colors and design, the living room combines a mix of the traditional and transitional, creating a relaxed and inviting atmosphere with a European flair. The fireplace, baby grand piano and ample seating provide the perfect setting for entertaining…something the Gilbertsons love to do. “Holidays and family gatherings are always focused in these rooms,” says Michelle.
The dining room, presided over by a gorgeous chandelier, comfortably seats eight guests. The room is warm and inviting and each of the pieces of furniture is custom made to perfectly fit the area. To maintain the integrity of the furniture while still wanting to modernize the room, the chairs were reupholstered, breathing color and life into the dining room.
Just beyond the dining room is the completely remodeled kitchen. Combining functionality and captivating form in a brilliant bold matter, this was the first room to be remodeled in the last few years. A refreshing new take on contemporary and
comfort, the Gilbertson kitchen is the soul of the home, setting the tone both spatially and thematically. Complete with stainless steel appliances, plenty of cabinet and drawer space, two glass hutches, the kitchen is one of Michelle’s favorite rooms, allowing her to broaden her love for gourmet cooking.
The newly designed kitchen overlooks the family room. The perfect location to kick off your shoes and relax after a long day at work, the family room once again reflects the Gilbertson’s love for comfort and elegance. Two of the home’s four bedrooms are located on the first floor, one of which is Steven’s office and the other, a guest bedroom and newly remodeled bath. Just at the end of the hallway sits a grandfather clock, handcrafted by Steven, himself.
Upstairs, you will find the bedroom of Michelle and Steven’s son, alongside the very spacious master bedroom. The master suite includes one of the home’s three fireplaces. Alongside the fireplace are beautiful oak double doors that open to a balcony, overlooking some of the homes in the neighborhood. From the brisk morning air to a cool evening breeze, the bedroom opens up to the beautiful outdoors.
“We love everything about this neighborhood,” states the Gilbertsons. “This home is perfect for entertaining our neighbors, friends and family.”
