Discover Oxnard
Oxnard, nestled along California’s Central Coast and just one hour north of Los Angeles, is a seaside community filled with clean, uncrowded beaches, a picturesque harbor, historical sites, unchained restaurants featuring international cuisine and more! With its proximity to the Channel Islands National Park, just 11 miles offshore, Oxnard invites visitors to discover an outdoor paradise of adventure where visitors can hike, snorkel, dive or kayak through the clear kelp forests, sea caves and coves offering some of the best conditions worldwide. Marine Emporium Landing is the departure point for the islands and where visitors can be outfitted for kayaking, snorkeling, fishing and other outdoor ventures. Bike rentals, jet skis, stand up paddle boarding and electric boats are found here. When hunger strikes, visitors have many choices within the Harbor to find Brazilian cuisine, fresh fish and healthy options. In Downtown Oxnard, visitors can learn about Oxnard’s history by visiting Heritage Square and taking tours through the Victorian farmhouses, which were refurbished and restored and saved from destruction from the Oxnard Plain. Just a block away sits the Carnegie Art Museum, a former Andrew Carnegie Library containing rotating exhibits and fine art. Plaza Park, a main hub in Downtown Oxnard is the site for the weekly Farmer’s Market held on Thursday mornings in addition to special events. For those who embrace fresh vegetables and fruits, a second Farmers’ Market can be found on Sunday mornings at Channel Islands Harbor as well as at produce stands scattered throughout the city. Golfers can perfect their swing at the River Ridge Golf Club or try FootGolf, a fun and different way to play golf! For relaxation, visitors can enjoy several of Oxnard’s wine tasting rooms and Herzog Wine Cellars offering premium wines and the 28-Zagat rated Tierra Sur Restaurant. Car enthusiasts might want to make a stop at the Mullin Automotive Museum, a world class museum featuring historic French automobiles or the Murphy Auto Museum which houses a collection of over 90 pristine vintage automobiles. The Collection at RiverPark features an open-air specialty retail center and signature entertainment venues complete with designer shops, distinctive dining, a comedy club, and the new Annex public market containing 12 microshops, artisan boutiques, craft food & beverage purveyors.
