An Ear For Compassion – Meet Santa Clarita’s Champion and Audiologist, Nola Aronson
To call Nola Aronson, owner of Advanced Audiology in Valencia, a philanthropist would be an understatement. This breast cancer survivor, who has been an audiologist for 35 years, is a tireless and proud supporter of countless organizations and non-profits within the Santa Clarita Valley. Her decades-long commitment to giving goes beyond her patients at Advanced Audiology and extends into the entire community – and the SCV has taken notice.
In January, the Santa Clarita Valley Chamber of Commerce honored Nola’s service to the community with the 2015 Small Business of the Year Award – a definite reflection of her giving character and spirit of philanthropy. Though her community involvement is diverse and far-reaching today, it all started with her love for audiology.
Nola was inspired to become an audiologist after working as a special education teacher and observing many students with hearing loss, as well as speech and language problems. She always knew she wanted to help people, and now she’d found her avenue to do so. After taking a pediatric audiology class, Nola was struck by purpose; she had discovered her calling.
“The importance of hearing is everything. Hearing is communication; you can’t lead better social lives if you can’t hear,” professes Nola.
Nola’s philosophy of generosity shines through at Advanced Audiology, where her patients and employees alike are treated as family, and the depths of her values are expressed through her business practices. With such kindness at its core, Advanced Audiology is the antithesis of a cookie-cutter organization.
“I believe in improving people’s communication, so they can lead better social lives,” Nola says. “We provide individualized solutions for your hearing problems and follow through with those solutions for our patients.”
Nola’s emphasis on providing long-term solutions and individualized care plans is an expression of how she desires to help improve her patients’ quality of life.
“It’s not about the sale of a hearing aid,” Nola states, making clear her goal to transform patients’ lives through the support of Advanced Audiology. “My heart of giving extends throughout my business.”
Yes, the community has received Nola Aronson’s support and kindness in numerous ways, but her work in the American Hearing Aid Association also is significant. This organization has allowed anyone age 50 years and older to receive free hearing screenings, as well as educational tools and methods to protect their hearing. Nola conveys the simple but profound reason why she and the American Hearing Aid Association strive to provide these free resources: “We wanted to help our communities stay healthy.”
It’s clear that Nola Aronson’s interests extend beyond health and wellness; her greatest passion lies in helping people. She has been a champion of endless non-profits and local organizations, including the Soroptimist International of the Greater SCV, Habitat for Humanity, Michael Hoefflin Foundation for Children’s Cancer, VIA, Circle of Hope, Drug Free World and Boys & Girls Club of Santa Clarita Valley. Nola’s charity work and heart of compassion is apparent, whether she is donating books to the Boys & Girls Club, supporting our veterans, promoting the care of cancer survivors and their families, or treating hearing loss patients at Advanced Audiology. This compassionate business owner, who won the 2014 Community Champions of the Year Award, will continue to make a positive and lasting impression in the SCV.
