Enrichment Through The Arts With Arts for Santa Clarita
Arts for Santa Clarita is a new organization, recently formed by local arts leaders to unite our arts community and provide stronger support for the arts in Santa Clarita. Its founders saw a need for the stronger voice that would result from the coordination and alliance of our many non-profit arts organizations, artists and art lovers. This new organization will serve as a hub that brings our local arts community together. It will advocate for more arts support from the City of Santa Clarita and Los Angeles County. Additionally, it will provide support, networking and advocacy services for local artists and art organizations.
The organization’s mission is to enrich the Santa Clarita community through the development and facilitation of arts programing, facilities, education, support, and advocacy. Its first priority is to support the creation of a local Arts and Cultural Center. A place where artists can have shared studio space, practice rooms, performance space and exhibition space– with facilities that support all mediums of art.
The board is made up of local Arts Advocates: Sara Brown (iLead Schools), Stephanie O’Connor (Forge Ahead Arts), Alex Bozman (CalArts Alumni Association), Lisha Yakub Sevanian (Calgrove Media), David Stears (Santa Clarita Shakespeare Festival), Mark Elfont (Santa Clarita Philharmonic), and Ed Hill (Master Chorale) With advisory board members, Sue Bird (Old Town Newhall Association), and Phil Lantis (City of Santa Clarita).
Each of the board members place great importance on bringing the local community into the conversation about what we would like our arts scene to embody. In order to be an effective support and advocacy organization, Arts for Santa Clarita will be working with members of our local arts community and art patrons to foster a thriving arts scene in the Santa Clarita Valley.
Arts for Santa Clarita kicked off its community engagement by hosting a logo creation contest. It is an original logo that is identifiable to the Santa Clarita Valley and has an artistic spin. A logo that embodies visual, performing and cultural arts in all mediums, in and around the Santa Clarita Valley. The winning logo will be announced on Saturday, April 21st, 2018 at the Santa Clarita Arts Run in Heritage Park. This will be the first event hosted by Arts for Santa Clarita with an expected attendance of 300-500 people.
Set on the paseos of the San Francisquito Creek trails in Santa Clarita, this run/walk is designed to create awareness, education, and advocacy for the arts, fundraising for local arts in the community and combined to promote engagement with arts and a healthy activity through a run or walk. Bring your friends and family, get the kids involved, and get ready to have fun, be creative, and get healthy at the Arts Run Santa Clarita.
The Arts Run is being organized by New Global Adventures. Its focus is on giving runners an amazing race experience, by running this race you are supporting Arts for Santa Clarita and raising awareness for the arts in general.
Arts Run Santa Clarita is currently seeking media press, sponsorship and partner support. For businesses that want to grow and reach a targeted and affluent audience by having their business, brand, or products represented at this event, while supporting the local arts, please send inquiries to run@scvartsrun.org.
