With his baby blue eyes, a style like Blake Shelton and a sultry voice like Jason Aldean, singer and Santa Clarita resident Cort Carpenter is sure to steal your heart with his sweet tunes and country charm. It was only a few years ago when Cort discovered his love for country and talent for performing in front of crowds. Born and raised in the small town of Kelso, Washington, Cort grew up on the diamonds, playing ball and dreaming of the big leagues. A graduate of Kelso High School, son of two high school teachers and coaches, Cort excelled on the baseball field and was selected as an All-State baseball player. After high school, he was recruited by Oregon State to play first base. Later, he returned to his hometown in Washington where he played ball for Lower Columbia College, holding the Wood Bat Home Run Record at the school. Cort then transferred to the University of Portland where he played for the Division-1 baseball team, was selected for the All West Coast Conference in 2009. He homered eight times his senior year, with a stellar .327 batting average at the plate. Cort graduated from University of Portland with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Organizational Communications and was invited to attend a free agent camp where agents scouted out new players for major league teams. With his sights set on baseball, a car accident in 2009 redirected Cort’s dreams of playing for Major League Baseball, leaving him with a back injury that would soon change the direction of his career path. “I played first base and was a power hitter,” states Cort. “After the accident, I couldn’t swing a bat.” And that’s when the ballplayer turned to music. “I always loved to sing, but never performed in front of anyone.” Cort furthered his newfound passion by performing locally with his Washington based Triple C Band. Cort and the Triple C Band, a nickname given to Cort in junior high because of his initials, took the Northwest by storm, packing venues and leaving fans wanting more. “I hold a very special love to my fans who have continued to support me through this journey,” states Cort. “I want them to know that the support they continue to pour out to me helps fuel my fire and pushes me to be better each day.” Scorpion Design, Columbia Ford and One Step Recovery have all signed on to sponsor the budding country superstar. Just a little over a year ago, Cort made his way to the Santa Clarita Valley to reside. Since being down here, Cort and his Los Angeles based Triple C Band have performed in front of a near sell out crowd at the famous Cowboy Palace Saloon in Chatsworth, the House of Blues Voodoo Lounge and more recently and locally, at Valencia Wine Company. Cort and the band made their way north a few months back, opening for national recording artist Sunny Ledfurd in Portland, Oregon, following a visit and performance in their hometown in Washington last April. “It takes a driven heart, a desire to be the best, and a will to do anything you have to get an opportunity that could help you,” states Cort. “You have to truly love the art, have a tough skin, and dedicate everything you have to your career. I’m learning more and more each day, and though it may be tough at times, I keep pushing forward without looking back.” Cort and The Triple C Band will be performing at the Valencia Wine Company on June 16.
