He plays the soft-spoken Scott McCall, a high school student who transforms from an ordinary teenager by day, into a creature of the night, and it’s no surprise why fans adore him.  He’s talented.  He’s captivating and he’s incredibly charming.  He’s the popular teen heartthrob and star of MTV’s Teen Wolf-Tyler Posey.  Tyler’s starring role on the series has won the hearts of many.

Born in Santa Monica, Tyler moved to the Santa Clarita Valley at the age of three and has lived here ever since.  At the age of six, he began his career in acting with the help of his father, John, who has also made his mark in the industry as a distinguished actor and screenwriter.
“It [acting] is all I’ve ever known,” states Tyler.  “I am very social, and I like to be around people. I naturally fell in love with acting.”
And while he fell in love with acting, America fell in love with Tyler.
Tyler has worked in both television and film, travelling all over the United States, Canada and Mexico.  He worked alongside Arnold Schwarzenegger in Collateral Damage, and also had roles on the big screen in Legendary, Inside Out, Men of Honor and Veritas, Prince of Truth. You may even remember Tyler when he starred as Jennifer Lopez’s adorable son “Ty” in the romantic comedy Maid in Manhattan in 2002.
“I learned a lot on the set,” states Tyler.  “It was a great place to practice, and more importantly, I was able to learn by example.”
Tyler is no stranger to television either, as he was a series regular on PAX’s Doc, guest starred in Without a Trace, Smallville and played the role of Abe in TNT’s Into the West, Gabriel on ABC’s Brothers and Sisters, and starred as Andrew Ortega in ABC Family’s Lincoln Heights.  And just two and a half years ago, he landed the coveted role of Scott McCall in MTV’s Teen Wolf.
“We shot the pilot for Teen Wolf a few years back and the show got picked up for a season.”  Now in its second season, Tyler states that his role as Scott has been, by far, the “coolest role ever.”
“Certain aspects of playing the role can be challenging,” states Tyler, “but I’m very comfortable with what I am doing.  The hours can also be challenging, as I am leaving to go to work while most people are coming home.  During morning rush hour, I’m heading home.  It’s a bizarre lifestyle, but it’s my lifestyle, and I love it.”
While Tyler’s success in television and film continues to flourish, he’s adding a few more “gigs” to the list.  Add singer/songwriter and guitarist in the band Lost in Kostko.  “I went to my first concert at five years old,” states Tyler.  “My older brother is an amazing guitarist and I have always been a big fan of music.”  Tyler took his love for music and together with his friends decided to form a band.  “I am a huge fan of Blink 182 and aspire that lifestyle, music and the whole business aspect itself.  It is so completely different from acting.  When I’m acting, I’m playing someone else’s role, but the music in my band is me, I can be who I want to be and sing what I want.”
Lost in Kostko was formed in 2009 by Tyler and his best friend and drummer Alex Gertsch.   “We are always playing and we get together as much as we can.”  Freddy Ramirez and Jeremy Bauer complete the band with their musical talent.  “Our music gives off an alternative/punk rock vibe,” states Tyler.  “It’s what I grew up listening to, and we all do well performing together.”  The four-member band has been performing live and filling up venues like The Roxy.  “It’s a great platform to perform, and we are great live,” states Tyler.  “Right now, however, we are taking a break from performing to take that next step–getting back to the studio, and looking to get signed by a label.”
For a 20 year old, Tyler is certainly accomplished. Last month, he was nominated for Male Choice Summer TV Star for the Fox’s Teen Choice 2012 Awards, and recently for Best Actor/ Television category for the Imagen Awards, where winners will be announced on August 10.  Tyler was also nominated for the NCLR ALMA Awards for Favorite TV Actor, which will air on Friday, September 21, on NBC.
Tyler Posey is dedicated to his career, his band and to his fans.  “If I were to describe Tyler, it would be that he’s loving, caring and generous,” states his mom Cyndi.  “He is giving to his fan base and to those who work for him and he is very focused and dedicated.”
“It’s your job, your livelihood,” states the actor and musician.  “You have to have fun…..I think I am proud of how far I’ve come.”
