Meet Mike Bjorkman.
Whether you’ve seen his photo in magazines or on billboards, watched him on local tv or even cheered him on as he strutted down the catwalk with the HomeSmart Models at the SIGSCV Fashion Show, Mike Bjorkman is all around town. With the success he has gained with his businesses, it’s no surprise why.
He is a driven individual who has dedicated most his life to helping others. From selling homes to leasing homes, giving back to local non profit organizations and more, Mike’s love for his hometown is no doubt, 100 percent apparent.
Mike began in the real estate business as an assistant in 1991. He was 18 at the time, and eventually moved his way up and was a full time realtor at 19. Mike saw much success and just a few years later, he was in the top one percent of realtors in the entire nation.
In 2007, Mike started up SCV Leasing, and also serves as the broker for his company. “When the economy went down, our committed loyal clients didn’t want to trust anyone with their real estate, so we take care of their investments for them,” states Mike. “It’s a thriving business with 10 employees and over 350 properties in the SCV.” Mike currently runs SCV Leasing with his brother in law Scott Taylor, who is America’s number one source for landlord success and wrote the top selling book, The Fifteen Minute Landlord.
Mike’s sales division is Team Bjorkman. With six members on that team, his crew currently sells over 100 homes per year.
Having worked for two local realty companies for the next few decades, Mike decided to buy a HomeSmart franchise in 2012, where he currently has a location in Newhall and Valencia. “I saw a vision of an entirely new technology based, forward thinking progressive company,” states Mike. “I wanted to do real estate the modern way.”
HomeSmart is currently the number one company in the southwest and the fifth largest in the nation. “I plan to expand in the next year or two and have a total of five offices by 2016 with 1500 agents.”
What makes his businesses so successful? “We are 100 percent about the relationship, and nobody is ever a number, but always a client and a friend.” With over 4,000 real estate transactions with Team Bjorkman, much of their success is from referrals.
Despite the success that he has found, giving back to the community is a priority. “I grew up in this town with nothing, and barely could afford food and shoes, but I built my dreams here, and I want to give back.” Mike’s businesses have participated in the Boys & Girls Club Auction, Soroptimist of Greater SCV Fashion Show, Single Mothers Outreach events, to name a few. Mike will also be serving as this year’s Perfect Ten Sponsor for the popular Dancing With Our Stars event that is set to take place on Friday, August 22. “My wife Ann-Marie and I are huge supporters of this community, and giving back to the community that gave so much to me, means a lot.”
