Henry Mayo Fitness and Health Hosts Grand Opening
Community leaders, medical professionals and local residents toured the brand new Henry Mayo Fitness and Health facility during a VIP Grand Opening mixer at the Center on September 7.
“This is a prideful day for all of us,” said Roger Seaver, President and CEO of Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital.
It was a victorious day for the community, as well, as a host of Santa Clarita government officers applauded the hospital’s growth and commitment to preventive medicine.
“I attribute part of the success of the City to our community hospital,” said Santa Clarita Mayor Bob Kellar. “Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital has been one of the essential building blocks of our community.”
Many speakers echoed the same sentiment: With the opening of Santa Clarita’s first fully integrated fitness and health center, Henry Mayo is helping to bring this community into a new era of self-care. Under one roof, the Center offers fitness, nutrition, education, physical therapy, massage and childcare. The minds behind Henry Mayo Fitness and Health, a full-service facility, aim to create an environment that is as luxurious as it is non-threatening. For members, the focus is on improving functional movement and establishing lasting health.
The fitness side of the building is managed by a credentialed professional staff with the highest certifications available and includes a variety of exercise amenities such as a strength training area, weight training and cardio equipment, group exercise studios, pool and locker rooms. The facility also includes meeting rooms for workshops and education programs, as well as a massage center for optimal wellness.
The clinical services and medical resources side of the building is managed by the hospital with emphasis on rehabilitation, orthopedic services, diabetic conditions and cardiology, in addition to other physician specialties. With more than 7,500 square feet of rehabilitation space and a robust staff of specialists on call, SCV residents can find a safe and encouraging place to exercise and get educated about health.
Once members sign up, they are treated to four personal training classes, each one building on the next. Membership includes an initial health risk assessment, functional mobility screening and strength acclimation session, during which a staff member will walk the member through the equipment. The health assessment tool uses resting heart rate, blood pressure, body composition and, strength and flexibility to determine individualized programs.
“Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital is committed to serving our community’s health needs,” said Roger Seaver, President and CEO. “Being healthy and fit are key to our wellness efforts. This new Center will allow us to extend our mission into additional preventive programs to improve health and manage chronic medical conditions. Henry Mayo Fitness and Health will be a dynamic environment that offers all of the attributes of a state-of-the-art fitness center. Additionally, it will be combined with diagnostic and therapeutic healthcare services, and customized to patient, employer and the community.”
