When You Know, You Just Know! – Jenny & Tim Ketchepaw
What started as a summer fling turned into a lifetime of love and support. Tim and Jenny Ketchepaw met on a blind date one summer, he was a service manager for a local car dealership and she was a young co-ed home for the summer while attending University California, Los Angeles. When they met it must have been fate because after several dates over the next few months the two were engaged by that Christmas. They jokingly stated, “It was kind of a whirlwind, but we just knew”.
A few days after Jenny walked across the stage at graduation, Tim, herself and 29 of their closest friends and family members flew to the island of Kauai, HI to get married. As a young girl she always knew she would get married on this particular island and when she describes the wedding her eyes still light up as she recalls EVERYTHING down to the smells of the air. The two were married in a small venue called the Chapel by the Sea. Their picturesque fairytale blossomed into more and four years later they would marry again, but this time in Vegas. Tim always wanted to be married by Elvis and they did the whole Vegas wedding; with the stretch Limo and all the bells and whistles.
During a span of 17 years the newlyweds never lost their infatuation for each other. They would travel the world together, gaining many experiences and growing ever so close to each other. Eight years after their first wedding they welcomed their first child, Connor. During her pregnancy there were complications and she had to stay in the Northridge Hospital for five-and-a- half-weeks before she finally was able to deliver. Tim would visit her every day commuting back and forth from the Santa Clarita Valley. Eventually Connor was born premature and spent another five weeks in the NICU. They would spend almost two months in the hospital with their first child. After their, “million-dollar baby” as Tim endearing calls Connor, they would have their little girl, Lily but this time with medical assistance and great care, they were able to have her without any complications.
Recently, the Ketchepaw’s purchased Jenny’s childhood home in the Valencia Summit. Now with two children they enjoy family time and still are quite smitten with each other. When asked what they love about each other, Tim replied, “She’s just very positive and amazing! Even when things are stressful she is positive.” With both of their parents within the SCV they are able to have time to go on dates, and rekindle their love for each other while continuing to grow. They now serve on several committees and are always involved in something to better their community. One would ask how they are able to handle it all, and they both replied with, “balance, finding balance is so important”.
