Love…Decade 1

Although they grew up only 15 minutes away from each other in the San Fernando Valley, it wasn’t until 1989 when Marshall and Shelley began their love story.  In fact, it was at Knollwood Country Club in Northridge, at a birthday party, where the initial sparks flew.
“He was 6’6” and handsome,” stated Shelley.  And when Marshall laid eyes on her he said, “Well look at her…isn’t she a stunner?”
Even though they exchanged phone numbers, they somehow ended up lost.
But as fate would have it, they met again at another party in Beverly Hills, just six weeks later.  “At the time, I was a successful business owner of a large hair salon in Sherman Oaks and Marshall was starting his own practice as an attorney in Valencia,” states Shelley.  “I was a single mother, raising my son Aaron, who was three years old at the time.  Marshall respected this, and my hard work ethic.”
Shelley and Marshall didn’t waste any time as their love blossomed and they were engaged six months later.  “There were two dozen roses on the table when he proposed,” states Shelley.  “He and I were at Geoffrey’s Malibu, when he got down on one knee and asked if Aaron and I would marry him.”
On March 11, 1990, Shelley and Marshall wed, and two years later, they welcomed the birth of their daughter, Ashley.  “We lived in Stevenson Ranch for 18 years until we bought a home in Westridge,” states Shelley.  “Four years ago, we remodeled the home and built our dream house together. He was in charge of the outside, while I was in charge of the inside part of the home.”
As the years have passed, Marshall’s law practice continued to grow, allowing Shelley to spend more time working with non-profit organizations.  “The thing that has worked well for both of us is that while we both keep very busy, we always make time for our dinner dates,” states Shelley.  “We both had very similar upbringings, same values and a respect for each other both in our marriage and in our businesses.”
Even though their schedules are busy, Marshall and Shelley both enjoy cruising, leaving “work” issues behind as they set sail in the ocean.

“We both work hard, but when we are on ship, we try to relax.  Now that the kids have grown and moved out of the house, we have three new babies to love…Paris, Bellagio and Mandalay, our spoiled Standard Poodles.  Yes indeed, life is grand!”
