Making it App’n
by Stephanie Jimenez
Today phone applications are as much a part of common conversation as is talking about the weather or asking how the family is. The days of the occasional person talking on their cell phone in line at the grocery store are gone completely. Our time waiting is now passed with apps, texting and blue tooth earpieces. With so much sensory indulgence out there, I wanted to take a look at some of the top Apps while you’re on the go.
GasBuddy – Free Find the cheapest gas on the go – for free! In one click, locate gas stations near you and see their current gas prices. Never over pay for gas again and with the rising cost of gasoline today, you can never save enough pennies.
Yelp – Free Looking for a place to grab a bite to eat at a late hour? Looking to continue your night to late night? Notice you’re getting low on gas? The Yelp App is here to help. Use it to search for places to eat, shop, drink, relax and play and read helpful reviews from an active community of local people in the know. Reviews are honest and posted by patrons of the establishments.
MeetMe. – $.99 MeetMe is an iPhone app that is easy to use and helps you select a Yelp reviewed meeting point between two locations. Simply set the two locations, select from a list of options between the two points and then send an email with directions to both parties. OpenTable – Free Offering restaurant reservations – free, instant and confirmed! With OpenTable you can make free restaurant reservations at more than 15,000 OpenTable-enabled restaurants in the United States, Canada and United Kingdom. Movies by Flixster, with Rotten Tomatoes – Free Movies by Flixster is the number one Movie App to watch movie trailers, get critic reviews from Rotten Tomatoes and share movie ratings with your friends. Flixster takes it to the next level by allowing movie-loving users to not only see reviews, but you can find showtimes, purchase tickets, find restaurants nearby, and play movie trivia quizzes. That could come in handy on a quiet date.
