Whitening Lightning’s creator, Jennifer Gerard makes her home in the beautiful hills of Sand Canyon. Her business, Whitening Lightning, began as a small mobile teeth-whitening service in the SCV and quickly turned into a million dollar success. Having moved to the SCV in 1979, Jennifer attended elementary, junior high, high school and college in this valley, and continues to live the American dream. “God has blessed our business to be a multi-million dollar company, and there is nothing more important to me than giving back to our local organizations that do great work.” She continues, “We love supporting them in every way we possibly can.”
Whitening Lightning served as title sponsors of the Child & Family Center’s Taste of the Town and will serve as the Top Ten Sponsor for the much-anticipated Dancing With Our Stars event in August. Not only has Jennifer supported the non-profits, she also donates her lovely home as an auction item to host parties and events. “I love this valley and the people in it…it is my privilege to be blessed enough to give back.”
Driving up to the Gerard home is anything but an average experience. Her impressive estate is as grand as it is beautiful, placed carefully atop a hill within the roaming landscape of Sand Canyon. From up there, the stunning view of the valley is rivaled only by the expertly planned architecture and interior design of the Gerard house.
After walking past a well-manicured garden and through the front doors of the house, you are immediately greeted with a sense of warmth and comfort. The cool tiled floor effortlessly transitions into a large carpeted staircase that runs through the open space above the living room. The living room features a carefully thought out arrangement of gorgeously comfortable chairs around a coffee table typically adorned with fresh flowers. The back wall of this room is made of large windows and sliding glass doors, giving all occupants an unobstructed view of the wilderness surrounding the home.
Across the way in the center of the house is an elegant and simple hallway, featuring décor that truly speaks to Jennifer’s values and tastes. Adjacent to the central hallway is the kitchen. With a warm granite-topped island in the middle and a rustic pizza oven, this kitchen is every at-home chef’s dream. This spacious kitchen is perfect for everything from entertaining to dinners for one. Moreover, the kitchen is conveniently located right next to Jennifer’s television room, making it easy to snack while watching the game or a beloved drama show.
The beauty of the house’s interior is rivaled only by the magnificence of the backyard. Jennifer’s large pool, complete with its own cascading waterfall, overlooks the canyon and is absolutely picturesque at night. Complete with a lounge area, this pool is an ideal spot year round. Across the way outside of Jennifer’s bedroom is “Jen’s Retreat:” a small, concreted area surrounded by carefully curated shrubbery. Jennifer’s retreat also features a table and chairs perfect for early morning coffee or late night drinks. Further down the walk is the garden. Full of seasonal flowers, plants, and fruits, this little hideaway is the perfect place to escape from the stresses of every day life. Moreover, this garden also offers a glimpse at the scenic view Jennifer gets to experience on a daily basis.
