Mastering His Craft The Multiple Talents of Braeden Lemasters
by Casey Rowley
If you haven’t heard of Braeden Lemasters maybe you’ve seen him on television or the big screen. At just 13 years old, he’s acted in numerous projects including, The Stepfather, Easy A, Grey’s Anatomy, House, E.R., Six Feet Under and The Closer, just to name a few. The Santa Clarita resident has accomplished great feats at a young age, and there’s no stopping him now. His passion for acting came quickly. At six years old Braeden was discovered at a Model Search America contest in New York. “Pretty much I’ve always wanted to be an actor,” Braeden stated, “I got into acting a long time ago when I was about six years old…I told my mom I really wanted to act and they asked if I was sure.” His answer was a definite yes and Braeden’s determination had him standing in front of top agents in the audience only to be picked up by his current agency, Abrams Artists Agency. The young star has come a long way since New York. Now the Santa Claritan plays Ray Romano’s son in the upcoming TNT series Men of a Certain Age. So far Braeden has worked on seven episodes and plans on appearing in eight out of 10 episodes. The series will air in December and has been one of Braeden’s favorite roles to date. Another top favorite was working in New York on Law & Order: SVU. As he appears on the screen more and more, Braeden’s fan base continues to grow, including three girls in Mississippi and a follower from France. “There’s this person that sent me two or three letters from France,” Braeden said. Fans are already following Braeden on the screen and will soon enough be following his music too. Aside from acting, Braeden focuses his attention on music. Just don’t expect him to play a Jonas Brothers song any time soon. “I’m a huge music fan of Paul McCartney, Jimi Hendrix and all those guys.” Playing guitar and drums, Braeden already has 25 original songs. He’s even played at the Whisky A Go-GO off of Sunset with his friend Dylan. “I see myself revolutionizing music to the way it was back in the ‘60s and ‘70s…no pop band, not heavy metal, just plain rock. The good kind of music.” Did we mention he sings as well? Braeden’s parents play a big role in helping him through each day. While his father David teaches him music, his mother Michelle home schools Braeden. After trying to attend Arroyo Seco in the seventh grade, Braeden ran into the difficulty of going to a regular school with his hefty schedule. “I went there for two weeks and was failing P.E. because I wasn’t there…I was out all the time.” While he returned to the comforts of home schooling, Braeden still has hopes to possibly attend Saugus High School, where his brother Austin currently plays baseball. Braeden’s unwavering devotion for music and acting is apparent And although he enjoys baseball and basketball, he’s focused on his passions first. “Music and acting…that’s what I think about all the time.” Adding to the list of impressive roles, Braeden has been seen on Saving Grace, Law & Order: SVU, Cold Case and Ghost Whisperer. If you want to see how Braeden really rocks, check him out in person at The Roast House on December 13 at 5 p.m. while he and his friends play live music for the KGMC-Gigmasters show. Being a young actor and musician takes great effort and great perseverance. Braeden Lemasters has what it takes. Don’t forget to send your birthday wishes on January 27 when Braeden turns 14.
