Mediterranean Décor Meets Midwest Style
by Joshua Price
Dreams really do come true. Norma Gonzalez-Schultz and Marc Schultz realized that when they purchased their ranch-style home in September of 2009. “We have both worked very hard to make it happen,” states Marc, a wealth advisor and Senior Vice President for Wells Fargo in Beverly Hills and Norma Gonzalez-Schultz, a Marriage and Family Therapist (Intern), employed with the Valley Trauma Center, a non-profit multicultural organization dedicated to the elimination of sexual and interpersonal violence and the development of healthy individuals and families through healing empowerment and increased public awareness. “Buying a home like this has been a dream come true. We refer to it as the Gonzalez-Schultz Ranch.” Built in 2002, the 4,300 square foot home is located in the Sierra Colony Estates of Agua Dulce. The home features four bedrooms and four bathrooms, a library, and separate game room. Situated on a sprawling two acres, the property also has a large 3,500 square foot barn, horse area and a custom built four-car garage. When entering the home, you immediately feel a sense of serene elegance. The house has a calming, earthy feel, from the rich mahogany cabinets and doors and the lovely cream travertine throughout, to the organic brown hues of the walls – all accentuated by hand-scrolled iron detailing in the doorways, on the walls, and adorning the staircase and adjacent landing. What really makes the house unique are the decorative accents. Understated features like blown glass lighting fixtures and votives, hanging chandeliers, bowls and urns adorned with fruit, and wall reliefs and murals all hearken to a Mediterranean villa. Look out one of the many windows of the guest bedroom and you’d expect to see a beautiful coastline; instead, you are delighted by an expansive view of the back yard, complete with outdoor lounging furniture under an enclosed patio, a freestanding fireplace, a complete outdoor kitchen, and a gorgeous view of the lagoon-like pool, including two spillways. The kitchen is the heart of the home. Large bay windows around the dining nook offer a glance at the gated front yard and courtyard. Adjoining the kitchen is the large family room, offering a place to lay back and relax. The game room offers an area for the family to simply hang out, and offers a retreat for Marc and his friends, complete with a pool table and card table. The formal dining room and living room are enclosed by curtains, allowing for a more formal and intimate dining and entertainment experience with guests. “We love every aspect of this home,” state the Schultz’s. “Our patio is an ideal place to watch the sun set in the evening, and the sun rise in the morning.” Of course, with a place like this to call your home, who could blame them!
