Meet David Perez Father, Husband & Social Media Innovator
To have knowledge is good but it is nothing unless it is put into practice. Starting a little later with education than others, David Perez is putting into practice the knowledge he learned from his years spent getting his education at the California State University, Dominguez Hills (CSUDH). “CSUDH was one of my favorite places to learn, the mentorships, professors, internships, and friends made me into the person I am today and I will always be thankful for that,” David said, recalling his years in college.
His journey to accomplishing his goals was not an easy one. To make up for the time he spent in his youth as he would say, “goofing around” he decided to pursue his education and begin his family life. Living in Bell, CA at the time, his wife, Valerie Perez, had lost her mother. After the life changing event, the young couple decided to move to Santa Clarita so she could be close to her father. At this time, David and Valerie welcomed their beautiful baby girl, Olivia, into the world. During his early stages of fatherhood, David would continue to attend CSUDH and commute from the Santa Clarita Valley to school every day, a round trip of 100 miles. While for some, this would be detrimental to their educational goals, but for David he was able to persevere and graduate with honors in his major; receiving his degree in Communications with an emphasis in advertising and PR. “I wanted to prove to myself that I could do it, have my family and get my degree and it all worked out,” David shared.
During his senior year he began looking for work and found it with Marketing Maven. As of February this year, he began working for the bicoastal marketing firm as an Account Executive. Recently, he was awarded for his part in developing artificial intelligence chat bots for social media marketing campaigns. “People want instant gratification and we wanted to be focused on our audience,” he said. When this started, his company was looking for a more “futuristic” way to grow and keep up with the technical age and there were a few clients that wanted to start with a few campaigns. “One thing we designed the bots to do is give that instant communication whether it be for service, leads, or some form of communication to our audience. It also allows people to step in, in real time, if we are needed,” he continued.
David will continue to grow and is looking into obtaining his Master’s in Business Administration. He and his wife have also discussed growing their family. “My wife was a single child and desires a big family, so we might do either, whichever one comes first,” David laughed.
