On April 8, 2014, residents of the Santa Clarita Valley came out to vote for the City Council election, where three council member seats were up for grab. After months of campaigning, the voters were heard and the three spots were filled. Santa Clarita 2014 Municipal election final ballot count ended with Mayor Laurene Weste’s 6,210 votes, followed by Mayor Pro tem Marsha McLean with 5,677 votes and Dante Acosta with 4,937 votes. The three councilmembers were sworn in on Tuesday, April 22, 2014.
