The Santa Clarita Valley Chamber announced John Musella as the 2017 Chairman for the Board. Musella has been an active community leader in the Santa Clarita Valley for more than a dozen years having been recognized as one of the 51 most influential people in the community.
“I am honored and looking forward to serving as Chairman next year as we work to build a better, stronger more vibrant Chamber of Commerce with our core focus of serving as the leading business advocacy group in the Santa Clarita Valley,” said Musella.
Musella owns his own public relations firm, The Musella Group, representing several high-profile businesses in the SCV and Los Angeles.
Edel Alonso
Board of Trustees Member
Santa Clarita Community College District
The Santa Clarita Community College District Board of Trustees, which oversees College of the Canyons, swore in recently elected board members on Wednesday, December 7.
Edel Alonso, who serves in Trustee Area 2, was elected to her first term. Alonso worked as a counselor and professor at COC from 1999 to 2015 before retiring. A resident of the Santa Clarita Valley since 1987, she was also a counselor at Hart High School and Valencia High School.
“I am excited to start the work of a trustee and look forward to working with the other board members to ensure student success,” Alonso said.
Incumbents Michele Jenkins and Steve Zimmer, who represent Trustee Areas 4 and 3, also were sworn in.
Neil Fitzgerald
National Vice President
JCI California
The California Junior Chamber (JCI California) and the Santa Clarita Junior Chamber (JCI Santa Clarita) are delighted to announce that current State President and former local President Neil Fitzgerald has been elected as a National Vice President for 2017.
Neil will oversee a number of states, serving as an executive officer of the United States Junior Chamber. Key to the role will be promoting the values of the organization and building partnerships with other nonprofits and business groups.
Neil joined JCI Santa Clarita in 2012, after moving from the UK, and served as Chapter President for 2013 and 2014. In 2015 he joined the state board and currently serves as the 2016 President of the California Junior Chamber.
