The Greater Los Angeles Area chapter of the American Diabetes Association (ADA-LA) announced that veteran Santa Clarita business and philanthropy executive Laura Kirchhoff joined the organization as manager of fundraising and special events.
“At a time when diabetes strikes 1 in 7 Californians, and more than 40 percent of California adults have pre-diabetes, it’s never been more important to step up our efforts to educate the public about how to stop diabetes,” said Cassie Shafer, executive director of ADA-LA.

Longtime Valley Industry Association member and community volunteer Ed Masterson will serve as the organization’s board chair for 2016.
Masterson is the head of sales and marketing for SOS Entertainment. A frequent emcee for various community events and fundraisers in the Santa Clarita Valley, he was field representative for then-Assemblyman Cameron Smyth from 2006-2010.
