He leaves a lasting impression on his patients with his beautiful voice, and we had the pleasure of featuring Henry Mayo’s singing nurse, Jared Axen, in the October/November 2012 issue of élite Magazine. Since then, Jared has received the Southern California Hospital Hero Award in November of 2012, and we are certainly not surprised. He is dedicated to his career and enhancing the lives of those he serves. Jared was honored for his outstanding commitment and achievement, working tirelessly to ensure the needs of our community are met.
Most recently, Jared was named Nurse of the Year by CBS’s The Doctors. The Doctors, an emmy award winning show features ER physicians Dr. Travis Stork, OB/GYN Lisa Masterson, plastic and reconstructive surgeon Dr. Drew Ordon and pediatrician Dr. Jim Sears. The show airs on CBS, five days a week, discussing health issues and more. Jared was selected by The Doctors and was featured on the show last month, where he was presented with the Nurse of the Year award. “Jared goes beyond his medical duties to give comfort to his patients,” stated Dr. Travis Stork.
Jared, a registered nurse at Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital, sings tunes from the 1940’s and 50’s to his patients. “It’s not about the entertainment,” stated Jared, “it’s about making your experience at the hospital an incredible one.”
