Santa Clarita’s 4th of July Parade had a very special entry this year honoring all of our Vietnam Veterans, presented by Suzon Gerstel of Prayer Angels for the Military and Dick Jeffrey of Back to the War Zone. The SCV Young Marines lead the tribute with an impressive color guard and Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 355 proudly marched with military branch and unit standards. The tribute float was a gigantic 10-ton military transport driven by world renown stuntman George Sack. It was highlighted by a beautiful piece of artwork, depicting the “3 Warriors Sculpture” from the Vietnam Memorial in Washington D.C., created on a 12 foot long, two-sided mural. Singer/Actor Bob Zachar was onboard singing “I’m Proud to be an American”. Local Vietnam Veterans and their families proudly marched or rode on the military vehicles. This was a heartfelt tribute well over-due to these unsung heroes. The gratitude and appreciation from the community meant the world to the Vietnam Veterans who participated as well as those along the parade route.
