Vibrant red. Racy leopard. Decorative iron. These elements are the basis for the Tuscan inspired decor in the lovely Westridge Estates home of Ray and Diane Morfino.
The 3,450 square foot single story Oakmont home has three bedrooms, five bathrooms and a detached office. Ray, a 31-year Vice President at Fotokem Industries, a motion picture facility in Burbank, and Diane, with over 20 years of real estate experience whose office is located nearby at Realty Executives, share the home with their two children, daughter Milana (16) and son Marco (19). Milana will be a junior at Valencia High School in the fall and Marco is a sophomore at CSUN majoring in Broadcast Journalism. The Morfino’s recently celebrated their 20-year wedding anniversary and share a passion for golf.
The couple’s kitchen features travertine tile and KitchenAid appliances. The kitchen is adjacent to the comfortable family room which is awash in brown, tan and red tones. The red billiards table fits perfectly in the living area ( the pool table was a gift from Diane to Ray on his 50th birthday).
A good deal of the furniture and accessories in the family room and throughout the home were purchased locally at La Via Bella, The Decor Store, Home Goods and Ambience.
The dining room is impressive with oversized leopard fabric chairs, an enormous iron chandelier and Peggy Erickson etched glass doors which spill out onto the atrium.
The master bedroom and retreat — identified by both as a favorite space inside the home– has a large four-poster bed (again, with leopard pillows and accessories), library and sitting area. The master bedroom, as does the family room, opens to the spacious backyard, spa and basketball court.
Guests have six sitting areas to choose from in the backyard, an entertainer’s delight: there is a barbecue area which seats eight; a cozy sitting area overlooking the TPC’s ninth hole and Santa Clarita sunsets; a formal dining area; and overstuffed wicker chairs where guests can warm their toes next to the fire pit. “We entertain quite a bit,” says Ray. One of Diane’s favorite parties is their annual neighborhood summer get-together. “We love our neighbors.  They ‘re great,” says Diane. “They recently surprised us with a 20th anniversary party!”
The use of outdoor space is also found in the home’s entryway which leads to the aforementioned atrium. The atrium is a comfortable setting for guests to sip a glass of wine while enjoying the outdoor fireplace.
The couple’s office connects to the atrium. In addition to the work area, computer stations and built-in bookshelves, Diane and Ray display their golf ball collection. All the golf balls were purchased at courses they’ve played with friends and while on vacation with the exception of Diane’s hole in one ball from the 16th hole at TPC.
It would be amiss to conclude this article without mentioning the couple’s two dogs Kobe and Jordan (who also answers to Monkey, nicknamed because of the sounds he makes). The two beautiful Shiba Inu’s have collars which are programmed to open a doggie door upon approach!
