Meet Jean Marie Stewart, Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital’s Senior Director of Cardiac Services.
The Santa Clarita Valley continues to grow and to age, driving the need for life-saving cardiovascular services at our local hospital and stimulating demand for programs that improve quality of life, as well as quality of health. On Saturday, February 9, the SCV Women and Men of Honor will host their annual Sweetheart Gala to benefit Cardiac Care Services at Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital, where Jean Marie will be speaking. “The Santa Clarita Valley truly deserves a comprehensive and top flight program for heart disease,” states Jean Marie. “That’s why fundraising is so important, because the support we get will make the difference between a ‘really good’ program and a ‘spectacular’ program. This community deserves spectacular.” Jean Marie continues, “All the right ingredients for ‘spectacular’ are already here, and from my point of view it will be the community support that is the final catalyst to launch us to the highest level of service.”
The gift of $5 million from local resident, Roberta G. Veloz, has helped to fund the cardiac programs. The success of the cardiac programs in turn, have enabled Henry Mayo to expand its services to include open-heart surgery and coronary artery interventions, open heart surgery, interventions, cardiac catheterizations, and electrophysiology. The service boasts a team of experienced specialists, technicians and nurses whose expertise, care and compassion translate to an exceptional patient experience. Dennis Goble, the first open heart patient at Henry Mayo, expressed his immense satisfaction with the care he received. “I’ve been to several known hospitals for my condition over the years,” he stated, “it was only at Henry Mayo that they were able to finally diagnose and fix the problem.”
“We already have some of the most experienced and skilled cardiac specialists in Southern California,” states Jean Marie, “and they are here because they see the potential for excellence. We have attracted some of the best cardiac nursing staff and technicians to Henry Mayo. We have leadership that wants to invest in the future of this community. I’ve observed how close knit this community is in the way they take care of each other and in their desire to also invest in the community’s future. Because of that, I am completely impressed with the Santa Clarita Valley, and I’m inspired to give them a “spectacular” heart program.”
