If you ask Cyntia Drachenberg, compassion is what drives business. As the recently appointed executive director of Summerhill Villa, Drachenberg is dedicated to leading her team by example, continuing to be a caregiver alongside her leadership role, and giving back to the community in which she lives. “There’s an opportunity to learn, grow and evolve every day,” Drachenberg said. “My goal is that we continue to develop the level of compassionate service that has made Summerhill Villa the provider of choice in Santa Clarita for the past several years.”
After about 19 years in the industry, Drachenberg has opened two senior living locations from the point of construction to success. It seems she has always been meant for this work.
“I couldn’t think of doing anything better than being a part of our seniors’ lives,” she said. “If you love what you do, it’s not work!”
In her new role, she’s determined to make a difference by bringing her passion for teamwork and patient care to Summerhill Villa.
“We’re only as good as our associates,” Drachenberg said, “and we are all caregivers here – even at the directorial level. I would much rather walk a resident back to her apartment than call for someone else to do it because, at the end of the day, we’re all in this together.”
It’s important to Drachenberg that the culture of teamwork she works to create among her associates translates to patient care.
“We’re like family members to our residents,” she said. “When their families aren’t here, we’re the closest to them, tending to sometimes delicate matters. To provide the best care, you have to be constantly connected in this line of work.”
And Summerhill Villa is the perfect fit for Drachenberg to fulfill her vision.
“I’ve gotten very attached to the team and to the residents,” she said. “We’re very vested in what we do here. It’s a really great fit!”
A 16-year Santa Clarita resident, Drachenberg is now caring for seniors in her hometown for the first time – and it’s renewed her love and passion for the community.
“There’s a deeper connection when you’re caring for people right in your own community. It’s an honor to be able to serve my community because we’re in this business to make a difference in people’s lives,” she said. “I really just want to say thank you to the families of our residents for trusting us with their care. We plan to continue to live up to our MBK purpose: to exceed your expectations for quality, service and care!”
