The DeSouza Home – An Equestrian Paradise
Located in the hills of Sand Canyon this expansive horse property has it all for a family to enjoy. With 2.5 acres of land and a total of 6000 sq. ft. of living space the current owners have created a peaceful place for equestrian lovers to enjoy their favorite pastime. As you walk up the round driveway, you pass large trees and are greeted with the intricate detailing of stone and lush landscapes. The 4500 sq. ft. main house welcomes you in with earthy tones. You first enter the formal living room with its grand 18-foot ceilings and accents of expressionist art paintings on the wall. The home follows a minimalist style and has been designed for comfort. Immediately off the formal living room is the formal dining area. Most of the house has dark wood floors and some light-carpeted areas.
The kitchen is the perfect place to entertain. The space has been recently renovated with a huge Island and long breakfast bar, so the family can enjoy spending time together while making meals or everyone can hang out in the den right off the kitchen; which is equipped with a brick fireplace and a-state-of-the-art entertainment system. The kitchen countertops are granite with plenty of counter space and cupboards for storage. The kitchen opens up to a large window that looks out to the backyard.
Built in 1993, most of the rooms in the house have been newly renovated including the master bedroom. It has a working fireplace, large windows overlooking the property, and equipped with hardwood floors. The master bathroom has been renovated with tile floor and a soaker tub. Inside the master bath are walk-in closets, fit to store everything.
Outside is made to entertain with the covered patio and various other features. There is a heated, in-ground pool and a built-in bar-b-que, perfect for backyard gatherings. Recently, owner Lisa DeSouza has made this property into a home to fit an equestrian life-style. “When I bought the property, it was not a working horse property. The barn (Structure only) was on the property but I put in the corrals and all the other amenities, such as water and electric, for it to house horses and be usable”. The 2.5 acres include everything you will want for all your horse training needs including: stables and arena. Lately, the home owners have been working to build a garden and area for more live stock. “I am in the process of building a vegetable garden with a chicken coop.
The home is both beautiful and eco-friendly. “The entire property is on Solar and all landscaping water uses a grey-water system.” For those who do not know, a grey-water system uses water from the bathroom to include: showers, tubs, and from washing machines and sinks. The water drains from these areas into a simple filtration system that then goes to water plants, gardens, and other areas. It saves a significant amount on water usage and the water bill.
