The Henry Mayo Care Network
Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital recently formed a clinically integrated network called The Henry Mayo Care Network. This new healthcare network coordinates care across providers and care sites in a manner that enhances value for consumers by improving quality and patient satisfaction, while lowering healthcare costs.
“The Henry Mayo Care Network will enable better coordination and partnership among Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital and area physicians, surgeons and specialists, facilitating enhanced patient care,” said Kingman Ho, MD, vice president and chief medical officer for the hospital. “This new venture moves us forward into the future of healthcare.”
Changes in healthcare policy and reimbursement from both commercial and government payors offer new opportunities for hospitals and physicians to collaborate on providing the highest quality care in the most efficient way possible. The clinically integrated network allows for a structure that aligns health systems with physician goals and incentives in a mutually beneficial manner to improve patient care and move toward value-based care.
The Henry Mayo Care Network is governed by a physician-led Board of Managers that includes 12 Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital physicians and four hospital representatives. The network has been a collaborative effort for the past year. It is physician led and physician run.
“By having everyone collaborate, we can look at what best practices are for the patients, and have better coordination of care and better communication,” said Ho.
As a member of the Henry Mayo Care Network, physicians commit to helping provide better and safer care for patients by:
Sharing clinical information with other network clinicians.
Adhering to appropriate evidence-based quality protocols for inpatient and outpatient care.
Learning and applying the science of population management and best practices to improve the health of their patients.
There are currently over 200 physicians enrolled in The Henry Mayo Care Network. Providing the highest quality care to patients is the ultimate goal, while also ensuring that the hospital and Santa Clarita Valley physician community remain competitive and viable.
