Their True Love in Business & in Home! – Pamela & Dennis Verner

Long time Santa Clarita Valley residents, Pamela and Dennis Verner, are a dynamic pair of successful professionals who seem to be a match made in overachiever heaven. Both very humble, they’d probably argue the ‘overachiever’ part of that statement, but a quick glance at their contributions and involvement within Santa Clarita would prove what a hard working power couple they truly are.
Their love story began like many others. Man and woman meet at a community function. Then meet again at another, and another. Finally, man claims his “plus one” fell through, asking woman to accompany him to a charity event and leaving her unsure the entire evening if it was, in fact, an actual date. Eventually, their feelings became evident, and Pamela and Dennis Verner have been each other’s “plus one” for eleven years now.
The Verners aren’t only partners in life but partners in business, both running SCV Commercial Real Estate started by Dennis in 2006. Although Dennis has handed the majority of responsibility over to Pamela since becoming the Santa Clarita Division Manager of Burrtec Waste Industries, he continues to act as a consultant for their company. “We have a unique relationship,” said Dennis, “We are both equally head of the household, and we both wear the pants in our marriage. She may call me for advice, and I give it to her. Either she chooses to follow it, or not.” Dennis attributes a great deal of their success in commercial real estate to Pamela, gushing, “She’s my wife but I think she’s one of the best agents in Santa Clarita, so I lucked out. If she wasn’t, we wouldn’t be as successful as we are.”
Their teamwork has led to numerous accolades, together being voted Best Commercial Real Estate Company in the Signal’s “Best of 2017,” as well as Pamela earning the title of SCVEDC 2016 Power Broker. Being experts in commercial real estate, they enjoy watching Santa Clarita expand. “We love helping businesses open here. Retail, office, industrial, medical, small business owners…they’re the bulk of our business,” said Pamela. “Helping businesses open a second location, or double their space and hire additional employees, and watch them succeed – that’s what we enjoy about what we do.”
When they aren’t hard at work, the Verners are actively involved in the community. Dennis is currently serving on the Board of Directors for the SCV Chamber of Commerce, a current board member and past president of the Santa Clarita Valley Business Group, and past Chairman of the Old Town Newhall Association. He also chaired the most recent Chamber of Commerce golf tournament in 2017. Likewise, Pamela sat on the committee for the Chamber’s golf tournament and the site selection committee for Bridge to Home. She is a member of the Valley Industrial Association and SCV Chamber of Commerce. They can be found at charity events, fundraisers, or networking events on any given day.
With so much on their plate, it’s no wonder they’ve learned to successfully merge their personal and professional lives. “We’re like-minded people, so we don’t mind working all day and going out to an event at night. They can be really fun and we actually enjoy it,” Dennis explains. “Our friends and clients have merged into the same people. So we may go to a business event, but we’re going for fun to see our friends that we may have met through networking or nonprofits in Santa Clarita.”
The Verners enjoy the occasional weekend getaway, whether it’s a road trip or a hike to the top of Mt. Whitney. Going into 2018, they plan on following the same formula for success that’s worked for them thus far. “Try not to say no to people, even if they’re asking for something outside of your wheelhouse,” said Dennis. “Go above and beyond, and help our clients from A to Z. Take care of our clients and when the phone rings, just answer the call.”
