The 2009 Western State Police and Fire Games brought thousands from all over for a wide range of competitive activities.  The games included more than 50 sporting events around the Santa Clarita Valley and surrounding communities.

The events featured everything from wrestling, downhill racing, open swimming to table tennis and baseball.  Sports director, Sergeant Timothy Klement, states, “I like the competition and the camaraderie that the games brings out.  It’s a time to let the weight of everyday life go and just play some ball.  The poking fun at one another, the realization that you are not getting younger, witnessing amazing plays.  It’s a great feeling.  There is also a sense of unity and a sort of peace.”  Klement also says, “It is important to compete in the games to help keep your fitness level, give your body and mind a break from a very stressful career, the chance to have fun and see old friends and meet new ones.  The break from reality and from the everyday madness of life is invaluable.” For more information, please visit www.wspfg2009.org.
