When Talent and Genius Are One With Daniel Morris
One can equate talent as an ember and genius as the fire that comes from that ember. Daniel Morris can easily be said to have both talent and genius and his fire is burning bright. Hailing from a large family of 13 children from Guthrie, Oklahoma this young, talented musician is making waves in the hearts of many throughout the country. Daniel has become an internet sensation and has received such acclaim from his prowess on the viola which has a deeper, richer sound than the violin. “It’s the alto of the string instruments” says Daniel. From the tender age of six Daniel and his fraternal twin brother Cal began honing their craft on the piano. Later in his life he studied under Dr. Hong Zhu, a professor at the University of Oklahoma who took Daniel on as one of his few selected private students. He was offered a full ride scholarship but started a family business in construction with his father and brother. Classically trained with an ever growing love for music and wooing the hearts of others, Daniel Morris has truly sparked something here in the Santa Clarita Valley.
Daniel came to California to meet his now wife of three years. The two fell madly in love after a trip spent on the rocks of Laguna Beach where Daniel serenaded his soon to be blushing bride. After moving to the suburbs of Los Angeles he continued to pursue his music career-performing for private events or playing for people with pop-up concerts on the Santa Monica Pier or the courtyard at the Westfield Valencia Town Center. “I always wanted to see if music could be a thing, moving here furthered my desire to do music,” Daniel shared. With playing in places like these he enjoys seeing how his music really touches people. “It’s truly amazing to see when they are out and the music touches them where they’re at is really inspiring”.
With a huge fan base online Daniel will continue his career in music but hopes to reach more people here in the Santa Clarita Valley and surrounding areas. He is currently working with his brother Cal and has received such positive feedback for their Twins and Violins duo. “People are so responsive to the twin thing.” We might also see another Daniel in the future with Daniel’s 2-year-old son Weston. “Sometimes he comes to see me play and stands next to me and pretends to play like his dad”. He is truly enjoying his time here in the LA County and having the time of his life pursuing music and is excited to make more connections, he is taking his music to an even bigger audience and seeks to inspire and share his music with the world!
