What would be your advice to women who are facing similar circumstances?
My advice to other women who are facing similar circumstances is to never give up. I discovered that during my times of intense struggle were the times I had the biggest opportunity for personal growth. “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you, not harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
-Jeremiah 29:11

Where did you find your hope?
Hope is expecting good. Put in the right place it will never disappoint. In the midst of life’s disappointments, I learned to place my hope in the only unshakable factor in my life; my God. My hope in Him became the anchor that held me sturdy in the storms.

Where do you find your strength to move forward amid difficult circumstances?
“Start by doing what’s necessary; then do what is possible; and suddenly you are doing the impossible” by Francis of Assisi.
Strength is very difficult to find in difficult circumstances. As the Director of Footprints In Pink, I tell my clients to only focus on the “facts”. The “what-ifs” of life will kill you in a second. Facts are power. Power gives you the ability to make decisions and decisions give you hope and strength.

Where did you find your hope?
I found my hope in my kids. At just one and two years old, I was all they had to look up to and I promised I would stay strong and positive for them amidst all the difficulties and sadness I was feeling. I thank God every day for my kids and helping me keep the hope alive.

What would be your advice to women who are facing similar circumstances?
“The advice I would give to women facing difficult times is to always remember that what has happened to you is not who you are. It may feel that way but, who you are is what YOU decide that to be. Believe in the person you want to become. “
Frances Sotelo
Where are you now?
I am approaching my third year at College of the Canyons. I am one year away from applying to the nursing program. My goal is to get my Bachelor’s degree in science.
“The purpose of life is to grow into our perfection”
