Service has always been in her family culture. Mother to Ransom Boynton, Senior District Executive of the Boy Scouts of America, Sue is most proud of the hard work her son accomplished becoming an Eagle Scout. She has led troop and district committees, still active in Scouting, and is looking forward to the day her grandson Alexander can join the Scouting community.

“It’s fun to be of service. It’s rewarding, it’s important, and it causes opportunity,” Sue said.
Her love of animals and service led her to become a certified search dog handler by the California Rescue Dog Association with her Doberman pup Nudel. This dynamic duo volunteers with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department to search for missing persons in both wilderness and urban areas of Los Angeles County. In preparation for deployment, search dog teams are required to undergo intense training that includes helicopter safety, overnight wilderness survival, radio communications, GPS navigation, and more. So far, Sue and Nudel have been on more than15 searches and are on call 24/7 as emergency first responders. “I‘m very comfortable training a dog and communicating with animals, so this work makes complete sense to me. I marvel at what they can do and how loudly they can speak,” she said.
Sue also advances public awareness for women’s issues as the Regional Federation Chair for Soroptimist International of the Americas, and is a member of SI of Greater Santa Clarita Valley. As part of this global organization, Sue has invested time and resources to the Dream It, Be It: Career Support for Girls program to help young women overcome obstacles to greater success. Continuing to empower women across the valley, Sue has been a motivational speaker for the Association of Women Entrepreneurs, College of the Canyons, America’s Job Center, as well as the Zonta Club of SCV. Her passion for dance was showcased in the local Dancing with Our Stars fundraising event for Circle of Hope.
Since 2012, Sue has served on the Board of Directors for the Domestic Violence Center, now Past-President, working to promote intervention, prevention, and education to victims of abuse. She works to cause men and women to nurture happy and healthy relationships through advocacy and training. “I am passionate and adamant about breaking the cycle of violence,” Sue said, “I believe that we can raise healthy families by teaching kids to be kind, to be safe, and to look out for each other.”
Sue has volunteered as a speaker and committee chair for the Valley Industry Association (VIA) to provide leadership growth to members and to develop student’s career curriculum within the Connect to Success program. In addition, she served on the Board of Directors for the SCV Chamber of Commerce to help network local businesses.
Sue has been effective in business her entire life, growing up in her family tractor shop back home in Illinois. At an early age, she learned the ropes of customer service and would even get grounded if she interrupted a customer. She went to Indiana University to study graphic design and later found interest in corporate communications. For more than a decade, she pursued her coaching business with NewMarket Careers to provide job search assistance, career development, and compensation strategies to executive clients. “Most of us can do and be so many things, we just have to realize our potential,” Sue said.
Her active involvement in the community brought her to the Career and Readiness Department for the William S. Hart Union High School District, which seeks to prepare students for workforce and post-secondary education. She is currently working to create career pathways and courses that teach professionalism and employability skills to future generations.
