Enjoy the Holiday Spirit on MAIN STREET Old Town Newhall
It’s been a long week and you are ready to enjoy a relaxing night out with your significant other. The air is crisp and this time of year calls for a warm coat and an evening in the Old Town Newhall Arts and Entertainment District. It is the perfect place where good food, fun people and live entertainment come together!
Date Night in Old Town Newhall
The perfect date night begins with a delicious glass of wine at the newest tasting room, Double Trouble, located on Eighth and Main streets. Double Trouble is a combination of Hoi Polloi Winery and Pagter Brothers Winery, who have joined forces to provide the community of Santa Clarita with a collection of syrahs, grenaches, cabernet sauvignons and tempranillo wines. Their space offers outdoor seating, occasional live music and food truck events. Each bottle of wine comes from grapes grown along our California Coast, resulting in a unique collection of wines from different climates, which provide a wide range of tastes and wonderful expressions.
Next on the evening’s agenda is dinner. Head down Main Street until you reach the casual yet upscale Newhall Refinery, which is a town favorite. The menu offers extraordinarily constructed entrees that are prepared farm to table with 22 artisanal draught beers and more than 40 specialty bottle choices. Cicerone-certified staff, beer experts similar to wine sommeliers, will find your favorite flavors or guide you to something new. Most importantly, the decadent desserts are made in house, from scratch. Be sure to share the highly rated red pear cobbler, a crowd favorite.
With smiling faces and a full belly, you’ll be ready for some evening entertainment. Catch a show at The MAIN, which is home to music, comedy, film, theatre and visual art. The lobby also is a welcome center for visitors to Old Town Newhall. On Thursdays, the venue plays host to a series of events as part of the free Thursdays@Newhall series. Catch the 10 by 10 variety show on the first Thursday of the month with an entertaining spectacle of 10 acts performing for 10 minutes each. The second Thursday of the month belongs to Note by Note, highlighting local musical talent, while the third Thursday features art receptions and the fourth Thursday brings the ARTree Speaker Series.
A perfect way to end the night is with an after-dinner espresso, before taking a walk through the spectacular lights of Main Street. The City of Santa Clarita will host Light Up Main Street on Saturday, November 18, which turns the street into a dazzling wonderland that truly encompasses the holiday spirit. Stroll through the glittering lights and end at the enormous festive tree in front of the Old Town Newhall Library. On your way back to your car, admire the Walk of Western Stars as bronze and terrazzo stamped tiles honoring Roy Rogers, John Wayne, Gene Autry and other Western legends pass underfoot.
To make the most out of your visit to the area, be sure to download the Old Town Newhall Walking App for a guided tour of the town’s history. We’ll see you on Main Street!
