Editor’s Note: Our first issue for 2010 debuts local wine 101 writer Eve Bushman.  If you have met Eve you would recall her 5’10” frame, mane of blond hair, and a broad smile eclipsed only by her vivacious personality.  Her trademark introduction would have been: ‘Hi, I’m Eve Bushman your local Santa Clarita Valley Wine Writer…bet ‘cha didn’t know you had one?’  Well, now we have her for you get to know.

Hello élite readers, nice to meet you over what will surely prove to be some excellent wine!  You may know me, or my name, as I’ve been writing locally for just over 14 years.  About five years ago I chose to write exclusively on wine education for beginners.
My own experience is based on over 20 years of classes, commercial tastings, winery tours, reading everything I can get my hands on, and I still consider myself a wine 101’er.  The education never ends.  I’m a voracious reader and with that, have become enamored with Internet researching to add to my studies.  I’ve become personally acquainted with winemakers, wine store proprietors, wine representatives, chefs and educators.  And of course I Tweet and Facebook just to keep up with the latest wine news.
E-mails fill my inbox; from press releases and invitations to private questions from readers who want private answers, as the wine scene can be very intimidating. I take pleasure in writing back to each of them.  
Now I expect to answer your questions about different wine varietals, how to describe your wine, attending a wine event without getting inebriated, fun wine pairings, other types of alcoholic beverages and much more.
