The Sandoval Estate
Past horse stables and rolling hills is a lovely family home nestled among the desert hills Santa Clarita Valley is known for.
This 4,282 square foot home was built in 2001, and sits on 2.43 acres of land boasting five bedrooms and four baths.
“We have been here for 17 years,” says owner Raul Sandoval. “We got to pick the lot and the finishes, and recently we have redone a lot of the house.”
And redone it they have. Guests are greeted with two deep brown doors that set the tone for the entire house. Once invited in, the main entryway’s high ceilings and a spiraling staircase are enough to take one’s breath away. The front sitting room and dining room are complete with a chandelier and engraved fireplace that add to the ornate feel of the front space.
Off of the room an office space faces the quiet street. The tall bookshelves and half desk make this the perfect space to work while being connected to the rest of the house.
Downstairs there is a feature that wife Sandra Sandoval is particularly enthusiastic about.
“I really wanted a sliding barn door,” Sandra said,” I would walk around my house and think, where could I put one?”
She settled on the laundry room, and now the beautiful, rustic piece is the centerpiece of the downstairs.
Up the stairs is the master bedroom, and anyone can see that is one of the crown jewels of the home. The four-poster bed is complemented by large candlesticks and draping curtains that give the entire room a cozy, yet sophisticated feel. The bathroom has two vanities, a bathtub, shower, and two walk-in closets. And let us not forget the attached bedroom suite, which includes a TV, treadmill, and couch–creating the prefect parental getaway.
Next to the master bedroom is another bedroom, complete with its own bathroom and four-poster bed draped with a gauzy sheet.
At the front of the house there is a space the family calls the “computer lounge.” This cozy nook fits two desks and computers, creatively turning an open space into a place that can be used by the whole family.
Another hallway leads to the bedroom, this one with a large closet and high ceilings that make the space feel open and airy.
One of the bedrooms has been remodeled into a game room, and anyone can see that this family knows how to work hard, play hard. The full-size pool table, stocked bar, couches, and TV make this a hangout space for all ages. The walls are painted with images of baseball chairs with each of the family members’ names on it, and a bathroom labeled “locker room.” Can you say game on?
Downstairs the refurbished kitchen (designed by Di Valerio Interiors Kitchen & Bath Design) beckons guests deeper. The white cabinets and grey accents make this open layout a welcoming place to entertain. The kitchen runs right into a dining room, which sits underneath a sparkling chandelier. This table faces the backyard and is separated by glass doors that can be folded back to bring the outdoors right to the dinner table.
The living room’s windows open to the backyard, which is fully stocked with a trampoline, BBQ and eating area, and pool.
The family has purchased the lot behind their own so that they can enjoy the sun setting on rolling hills undisturbed.
This timeless house is decked out top-to-bottom, creating a place for all to come and feel at home, while also being dazzled by the stunning décor and layout.
