A Message from the Associate Publisher Alexander Hafizi
Can you believe how fast this year is going? Spring is here and quite honestly, I can’t wait for a change in the weather, although I’m sure that the flowers will be spectacular this year because of all the recent rain. Spring is always such a beautiful time of the year. Speaking of beautiful, in this issue we have lots of beautiful things. Let’s start with the cover Jess and Nicole are the young couple that are bringing SCV Veg Fest to Santa Clarita. If you haven’t heard about it yet go to page 6 where you will find information about the organizers as well as the event.
In this issue, we are happy to announce our Ultimate Medical Professional Winners, we are always amazed at the community involvement we receive for our Ultimate Awards, we have thousands of people voting every other month for their favorites. We would like to congratulate all of our winners and to thank them for their support.
Talking about Ultimate Awards, in our next issue, we will be bringing you the results of our Ultimate Gentlemen in Business, we are so excited about this new category which has received the highest number of votes than any other in the past. Can’t wait to share the winners soon
As you flip through this issue, you will see that we have featured the growth in medical organizations in our valley. Our population is growing and it’s comforting to see that our medical professionals are keeping up with the growth with many new buildings going up around town. Read about Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital, Facey, Kaiser Permanente and UCLA Imaging Services. All of these places are phenomenal and have such interesting stories to go with them.
As always, we have something for everyone in this issue, from filming to arts information business news in the SCV, and of course our food and wine experts. I strongly encourage you to sit down, take a little break and enjoy some of these stories. We always try to feature interesting people who have a tie to Santa Clarita. We got to chat with a high school student who is a champion ring gymnast and a truly amazing young man.
Mother’s Day is right around the corner. Are you ready? Do you know what you are getting your mom? We can help you find that perfect gift with our Fabulous Finds shopping guide.
In honor of Mother’s Day, we have featured a mother and daughter duo that work together at Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital – great story, but this is not the only mom we are featuring, take a look through the pages as we celebrate Mother’s Day.
Speaking of celebration, we are featuring an organization that pays homage to the profession that breeds all professions. To learn more, go to page 40.
Our million-dollar home features a Sand Canyon Oasis, the perfect place to live if you love the countryside and a little peace and quiet.
If you are a bicycle fanatic, check out the story on page 58 and learn more about Pedal Fest, a bike race that’s happening in May.
Looking to get out of Santa Clarita? Love wine? Need a little vacation away? If you answered yes to those questions, we might have the perfect place for you. See page 76.
Our looking back this issue is a great one about two beautiful people who had a great life together. See page 78 for their story.
Our next Ultimate category will be Ultimate Dining. So be ready to vote for your favorite restaurants from now until May 18.
Once again thank you for reading élite Magazine and I wish you a happy and healthy Springtime.
Until next time,
Alexander Hafizi
