Caleb Brown sets his sights on Hollywood
Once 7-year-old Caleb Brown felt the brightness of lights on his face, this Valencia resident has lived every day for the stage. In just two short years, he’s shared scenes with Jennifer Aniston, worked on Rachel Bloom’s new pet project and earned laughs on Conan.
Caleb discovered his passion for acting when he appeared in his first musical. He went on to appear in two more productions before setting his sights on Hollywood.
“One of our family’s favorite memories of Caleb is how he loved to run around the lobby of any play, whether he was in it or not, and get the autograph of every performer every single night. He would have a new program at every show and ask the actors to sign it, even if they had signed one yesterday,” says Nicole Zweifel, a director who worked with Caleb. “He was just over the moon for the whole process.”
With Hollywood in the horizon, Caleb began to travel weekly from Visalia, where he’s originally from, to Los Angeles for his auditions. He quickly landed several commercials. So far, Caleb has appeared in seven commercials, including Subway, AT&T, Famous Footwear, Snapple and more.
Less than a year later, Caleb made his television debut playing Young Sawyer in Nickelodeon’s Bella and the Bulldogs and has worked on several projects since. Appearing in his first major motion picture, Caleb landed the role of Mikey, the son of Jennifer Aniston and Timothy Olyphant in Mother’s Day, directed by critically acclaimed Garry Marshall. Released in April, the all-star cast includes Julia Roberts, Kate Hudson and other iconic actors.
In the same month, Caleb also appeared as Jake on CW Network’s Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, created by and starring Rachel Bloom, and next on the line-up, Caleb appeared on CBS’ The Odd Couple, starring Matthew Perry and Thomas Lennon. He took on the role of Evan, the son of guest star Teri Hatcher. Branching into late night, Caleb appeared in a Star Wars skit on Conan in early 2016.
Caleb has experienced some surreal moments in his short career, noting his favorite as the time he spent in Georgia last summer filming Mother’s Day. He quickly discovered that working hard while creating lifelong relationships was going to be the instrument for success in this industry.
“I have had an opportunity to work with many young actors in my career but few at such an early age, show as much enthusiasm, passion and talent for the craft as Caleb Brown. And he makes me laugh,” said David Venghaus, first assistant director for Mother’s Day.
To develop his talent, Caleb attends weekly acting classes in Hollywood and has private acting coaches who have been instrumental in his growth.
“Caleb Brown is the real deal. His dedication to his craft is phenomenal. Just watch where he goes. He’s a comer,” said Lisa Picotte, owner of Lisa Picotte’s Young Actor’s Studio and Caleb’s private coach.
Caleb resides in Valencia during his workweek and heads to Visalia on most weekends. He has two older sisters. During his time off, he enjoys playing video games, writing his own plays and camping.
Caleb Brown is represented by CESD Talent Agency and Stein Entertainment Group.
