The Santa Clarita Valley a Great Place to Live and Work!
The Santa Clarita Valley is booming! The economic growth observed in recent years is expected to continue as more commercial and industrial developments are finished and new homes are constructed.
Santa Clarita is a cost-effective and easier alternative to other business centers in Los Angeles County, and many companies both large and small have chosen to make their homes here. What once was a sleepy bedroom community has now become a thriving business center.
In the Santa Clarita Valley (SCV) there are five major industry clusters: Aerospace and Defense, Medical Devices, Advanced Manufacturing, Digital Media and Entertainment, and Information Technology.
Clusters of interconnected businesses fuel competition in the local economy. While it may seem counterintuitive to encourage many of the same types of businesses to cluster in the same region, this practice is good for businesses because it encourages innovation, offers opportunities for peer-to-peer sharing and networking, and creates positive economic growth.
There are several cost advantages to doing business in the Santa Clarita Valley. Santa Clarita has lower business tax rates and fewer utility user taxes than nearby Los Angeles, Palmdale, Pasadena, and San Fernando. In 2016, Santa Clarita was named the most business-friendly location in Los Angeles County (for the 2nd time!).
Santa Clarita’s highly-skilled and highly-educated workforce is another reason the SCV is such a great place to do business. In fact, over 2/3 of the population has some college education and 35% of the population has a college degree. Despite this fact, some local companies express difficulty in the ability to attract and retain talent.
We all know that Santa Clarita is a great place to live – offering a high quality of life in a safe, master-planned community with excellent schools and a variety of entertainment options. But it is also an ideal location to work.
To help raise awareness of the varied opportunities afforded by our fantastic local companies, the Santa Clarita Valley Economic Development Corporation (SCVEDC) created a webpage that links to SCV’s top 50 employers’ career pages. On www.LiveWorkSCV.com you’ll find everything from entry level and seasonal work, to advanced careers in engineering, medicine, and software development.
Studies show that working closer to home has a myriad of benefits. Less time on the road can:
• Increase productivity
• Minimize stress
• Save money on transportation
• Improve relationships with friends and loved ones
• Reduce your chances of getting in an accident
• Improve your overall quality of life
If you are ready to quit your commute, check out our list of top 50 SCV employers and see what open positions you qualify for on www.LiveWorkSCV.com. Bookmark this page as an easy way to stay up-to-date with local career opportunities.
