What’s new for your glass at Cocktails on the Roof?
Of course I have a handle on the most talked about event in town – Cocktails on The Roof 2016 is back! We have given Santa Claritans a year to try and duplicate what we did – and they can’t. So there! We are back to bring you the one, the only, craft cocktail event on a rooftop that will be transformed, once again, into a Manhattan-style scene complete with: greenery, a red carpet for all your selfie poses (provided by The Magazine of Santa Clarita), cozy lounges, fun lighting, a live DJ, and all the food and cocktails you can possibly consume.
Yep. That’s us: a committee made up of the WiSH Education Foundation, my co-host Marlee Lauffer and myself. And this year we are upping our game. 2016 brings an extra hour of shenanigans. Guests will have an opportunity to vote for their favorite cocktail, and more new restaurants and spirit vendors are signing up.
But there’s also room for returning favorites. The mini martini glass is back. The restaurants sharing their most sought-after cocktails, mocktails and food are back. The normally elusive and hidden Speakeasy Bakery is back, along with newcomers and returning shenanigan providers: Vermont’s Shacksbury Hard Ciders, TPC Valencia, Persia Restaurant, Sake Sommelier Yoshi Murikami making sake-based cocktails, Wolf Creek Restaurant and Brewing Co., Sisley Italian Restaurant, Bowen Whiskey, California Fruit Wine, Deep Eddy Vodkas, Solita, Honu Coffee (with alcohol, too!), Newhall Refinery, Parashars’ Indian Kitchen, Olive Terrace, Culinary Wonders, Lazy Dog and … stay tuned for every exciting announcement on Facebook.
Since we are starting earlier in September, we thought, heck, it might be warmer. So starting the party a little later but staying until the last slipper has fallen off the last pedicured toe – which means midnight. Yes. That’s right. Start planning what you’ll be wearing now.
Come at 8 p.m. for a VIP entrance and get four hours of mischief for $95, or come at 9 p.m. and get three hours for $75 (same price as last year). Or come as a Designated Driver for $65 – it’s all good. After our first event, we were able to announce that every science and every math teacher in all of our middle and high schools got something from their wish list due to your support, as well as the sponsors of the event. See, didn’t I tell you it was all good?
