They both attended Hart High School at the same time, but as fate would have it, didn’t meet until several years later.

“We met in Sutter’s Mill on Valencia Boulevard,” reminisces Kathy.  “The bar was one of the few places with live music in the SCV at the time.”
“He asked me to dance, and I accepted.  After he realized I wasn’t going to go out to breakfast with him when the bar closed, he stuffed his business card in my purse.”
Then fate stepped in…
The following weekend the two unexpectedly ran into each other again.  Tim insisted on meeting up for a drink.  “She was difficult, but I had to keep trying.  I knew I could convince her to go out with me if I could just get her to talk to me.”
“He talked me into meeting him and the rest is history,” says Kathy.  “We were married ten months later.”
After a long stroll along the Paseos in Valencia, Tim popped the question.  “I knew he was going to ask, but he just couldn’t get the question out. So he waited until we were standing outside the bathroom of his house, right before I left for home.”  Kathy continues laughing, “Nothing like getting a proposal outside the bathroom door!”
On March 9, 1985, in Reverend Bingham presided over the wedding of Kathy and Tim Norris in Newhall.  They have three children, Kaitlyn, Alexandra and Timothy.  ALifetimeofLove2
As CEO/President of Valley Industrial Association, Kathy is very involved with the community and partnerships with other organizations.  “I’ve worked on projects with the SCV Chamber of Commerce, SCV Economic Development, Child & Family Center and more.  It is important to both of us to give back to our community and offer our time and support when we can.  Tim, a facilitator of VIA’s Connecting to Success Program is also a member of several clubs and associations, and owns Pan Pacific Sourcing and Hired Hand Handyman.   He’s also a world-class competitive shooter, traveling extensively to compete in his sport.
“We balance everything by respecting each others’ involvements and affiliations, working together with some of those, but always understanding the importance of just stopping sometimes to be with each other and not worrying about everything else for awhile.”
“We dream together,” says Tim.  “We don’t always want the same things in life, but she has always stood beside me even when my ideas are a bit crazy.”
”Tim truly believes I can do anything I put my mind to,” says Kathy.  “He’s a man who really loves his family.  He is solid, dependable, works really hard and just inherently knows how to fix or repair pretty much everything in the universe.”
While the establishment where they once met has since closed, the love between Kathy and Tim continues to flourish.  “You’ve got to stick with it and make the decision that you’re in it for the long haul,” says the two.  “Sure you’re going to disagree, but somehow, you’ve got to figure things out and move forward…we feel marriage is a forever commitment, not something you give up on when times get hard.  You work at it every day.”
Happy 30th wedding anniversary, Tim and Kathy!  Here’s to many more!
