They met while working at Lumber City.  He worked at the Simi Valley location while she, in Valencia, but it wasn’t until she was caught spying on his store’s battery display when the two officially came face to face.  “Amy and her friend and coworker went to spy on our Christmas battery display because the winner received money that went towards their store’s Christmas party, but I caught Amy spying.”

And the rest, as they say, is history.
While it wasn’t love at first sight (the two had unfavorable opinions of each other at first), a friendship developed into a beautiful and successful relationship.  “It was that feisty relationship that initially formed our friendship and straightforward talk that we have today,” says the Boswells.
After a few years of dating, Chris asked Amy for her hand in marriage.  How did he propose?  “Well let’s just say, Amy was impatient,” smiles Chris.  “The plan was to hang the engagement ring on the tree as a new ornament for Amy to discover, but,” as Chris recalls, “she couldn’t wait, so she ended up with the ring box just three days before!”
InBusinessandLove2On September 16, 1996, the two became husband and wife.  A few years later, they took their relationship a step further and became business partners with the ownership of Oasis Garden and Patio in Ventura.  Relocating near the coast, the two missed Santa Clarita so much they moved back within two years.  “Chris made the commute so we could raise our family in the SCV.”  After seeing the need for a patio store in their hometown, Chris and Amy opened Oasis Garden and Patio Santa Clarita in 2007.
A successful partnership in business and in love, their recipe for success is built on honesty and loyalty first and foremost. “Chris and I were meant to work together,” says Amy. “What I love about him is he puts the girls and I first, without a doubt. He loves what I love – our girls, our friends, our church, travelling, country music, anything competitive like board games, our dog, and our business. He is the male version of me and fits me perfectly in every aspect of our life.”
“Amy challenges and inspires me to be the best I can in our business and family life,” says Chris.  “There is nothing better than to come home after a long day at work, have a glass of wine, play a competitive board game, talk about the day’s events, and unwind with your best friend!”
